Her classical training began at age three and she came of age in the 90s NYC rave scene while attending LaGuardia Arts (aka the “FAME” school). She is a singer, multi-instrumentalist and an alumna of The Juilliard School.
A New York City native, her past performances span from DJ-ing and playing live synths with bands at dives and galleries throughout Brooklyn and Manhattan to performing in chamber music ensembles and symphonic orchestras in the halls of Lincoln Center.
Shahla has self-produced two full-length albums, is a faculty member of The Diller-Quaile School of Music and Bloomingdale School of Music, a professor of music theory at Circle in the Square Theatre School, teaches piano at LREI and composes music for web, film & television.

Natural disasters remind us of the more important things; spirituality, family, love, art. The East Village is one of the many neighborhoods recovering from the hurricane, and it is most special to me since it was where I went almost daily to listen to music and be with friends as a young girl. I’m honored to gather there again on November 10 to do the very same. Xx
